In order to impart education and practical knowledge
on the subject of Cotton, a 5-day long 2nd Cotton
Course was organised by the Bombay Cotton Merchants’
& Muccadums‘ Association Ltd. under the
aegis of Cotton Association of India from 4th August
to 8th August 2008 at Cotton Exchange Building,
Cotton Green, Mumbai.
The Course covered entire gamut of cotton trade
i.e. cotton farming practices, management of Ginning
and Pressing, Transportation and Warehousing,
Logistic Management, Instrument Testing, Financing
and Insurance of cotton etc. Visits to CAI’s
Laboratory and a Textile Mill were also part of
the Course.
A brief overview of the positive developments
in Indian Cotton scenario during recent years
and the key role played by India in global cotton
markets were presented at the Course. The response
to the Course was overwhelming and the Association
plans to make it a regular event and intends to
continue to hold such Courses on regular basis.
The next course is scheduled to be held very
soon.
