Exhaustive Scheme
The CAI over the years has played a notable part
not only in the development of all the required
infra-structure facilities for smooth and orderly
marketing of cotton but also in the service of the
textile industry of the country. The Association
has now turned to larger Global interest –
all pervasive development of cotton. There is now
an increasing awareness by all concerned that cotton
is a renewable resource whereas man-made fibres
are finite. Cotton though continues to hold its
pre-eminent position, its development can no longer
be ignored. It was precisely from this point of
view, an elaborate and exhaustive scheme with a
charitable character was drawn which led to the
formation of COTAAP Research Foundation Trust.
Donation Exempted
The COTAAP Research Foundation is registered under
the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 and all donations
to the Foundation are exempt under Sec. 80G of
the Income Tax Act 1961.
Scope of the Trust
The scope of the Trust extends to acceptance of
any donations, contributions, gifts, grants, aids
and subscriptions from any private or public bodies
or individuals. Similarly, within the ambit of
the Trust, separate segregated and identified
fund or institution can be established for fulfillment
of any specific object included in the trust.
The Trustees have plans to undertake various programmes
such as extension services to cotton farmers,
rejuvenation of cotton seeds, development of certified
high yielding seeds, improvement of ginning and
bale packing in a phased manner and to meet the
expenditure involved for these programmes, efforts
are under way to augment the income of the Trust
through enlargement of its corpus or by creating
separate funds.
