COTAAP RESEARCH FOUNDATION

Constitution
Cotton and Allied Products Research Foundation commonly named as COTAAP Research Foundation has been formed as a Charitable Trust in 1987 as a sequel to the enduring desire of the Board of Directors of the Cotton Association of India to undertake activities relating to promotion, regulation, innovation, improvements, research and development in connection with cotton.

OBJECTS OF THE TRUST

The Trust has as many as 18 objects. The gist of the important objects is as under:

RESEARCH: –
To carry out scientific, economic and technological research relating to trade, commerce and industry in the field of cotton and other fibres.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:–
To promote and advance commercial, industrial and technical education in the field of cotton and other fibres by conducting examinations and awarding diplomas.

RECOGNITION OF PRODUCTION AND PRODUCTIVITY: –
To give awards for achieving high yields by the farmers and for developing high yielding new varieties and cotton seed by the scientists.

IMPROVEMENT OF QUALITY THROUGH STUDIES: –
To undertake studies regarding cotton ginning problems and to devise programmes to achieve improvement in processing and to develop quality cotton seeds.

HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT: –
To promote development of skills of workers employed in cotton farming and cotton processing.

EXTENSION SERVICES: –
To make available the required information to the trade, industry and farmers for carrying out right type of work in their respective fields.

EVALUATION AND DISSEMINATION: –
To collect and publish information relating to cotton test results, trading and cultivation etc.

VISITS TO FARMS: –
To visit villages for studying and undertaking rural and agricultural development.

DATA COMMUNICATION: –
To collect, maintain and disseminate statistical information concerning cotton and other fibres.
